Brain Damage Quotient = 5.1 % ABV
Fluid Oz. = 12.0

Postmortem Brew Review
Amber with reddish tints of color.
Roasted nut and slight coffee aromas, though there's no coffee in this beer.

Very dry tasting with light
carbonation.
Minimal head, minimal head lace.
Full flavored, but light to medium bodied.

Grim Reaper's Eulogy

The "Leinie's" I've tried thus far have failed to impress, other than in some gimmicky item such as color. But this one has some merit. It was great as far as the standard for a bock style.  It was also easy to drink; at just a tad north of 5% ABV, it makes for a very sessionable brew.  I am also happy to report that the taste popped nice and dry on the finish.

A lesser crafted style, Bock beers are not done in great abundance, at least not in this part of the country. So Leinenkugel has a nice niche beer in their stable.  One that you could easily enjoy all day.

Postmortem Brew Review
Clear pale brown color.
Almost no boquet, save for some malt aroma.

Very dry tasting with negligent
carbonation.
Minimal clinging head lace, at best.
Light flavor, light body; watery taste.

Grim Reaper's Eulogy
I find that Brown Ales are in the realm of wowing me, or not.  This one did not wow.  I think the English have them (nut browns) down pat for the most part and there must be some super secret ingredient that they are not willing to share with the rest of the world.

It was very drying on the tongue and no noteworthy tastes to mention, other than a strong malt presence.  It was so drying, I had to have another beer to liven up my taste buds again.  In the future, I will most likely seek out those from the UK, when in a mood for a proper brown ale.

Postmortem Brew Review
Turbid brown with decidedly pink hue.
Sweet honey and black berry aroma; no beer aroma.

Slim pink/white head with
fair amount of carbonation.
Slight, clinging head lace present in the glass.
Light flavor and body; refreshing black berry taste.

Grim Reaper's Eulogy
What is not exactly a beer and not exactly a malt liquor and not exactly a wine cooler? I don't know, but this would come pretty close to describing the experience. That said, it was refreshing; a real change from straight up beer.

Perhaps the moon and stars were aligned just right this evening, but it was truly good and I plan to get some more of this berry nectar. Even Mrs. Reaper enjoyed it. I guess I have a sweet tooth for it myself.
